2009 Greenovators

Barron Collier

BARRON (Read his full greenovator story in our August 2009 newsletter)
"I would not consider myself a 'greenie', but I do take small actions everyday. These efforts not only protect the environment, but also save money, taste good, and are fun."

CHRISTINE (Read her full greenovator story in our July 2009 newsletter)
Determined not to get behind a lawn mower in her new Arlington home, Christine planted native species, bought a mulcher/chipper for her fallen leaves, planted a vegetable garden, and bought a rain barrel.

Tierney with rain barrel

TIERNEY AND MIKE, (Read their full greenovator story in our July 2008 newsletter)
"After signing up for the green living challenge in 2007 we realized we needed a rain barrel. We made our barrel, proudly carried it home and set it up. We painted it all pretty and then invited everyone to come over and have a look."

ROSE, Mc Lean, VA (Rose’s full greenovator story is in our September 2008 newsletter)
"I use a solar oven on all the sunny days of the year, have made organic cotton and wool window quilts, mattress pads, and bed quilts, and take the ART bus and Metro to work (and don't have a car)."

DAVID SCHULTZ, Community Reporter, The Arlington Connection

JAY FISETTE, Member, Arlington County Board
"The Earth's resources are finite and fragile, so I want to help to develop a sustainable living pattern that ensures the future. I am very proud of Arlington's smart growth planning. And when it works we actually create a stronger sense of community."

ADAM GALLEGOS, Founder and Principal Broker, Arbour Realty
"Before you make decisions as a consumer, explore your options. It's amazing how many product and services are available offering a green opportunity for the same (or similar) price."
