ACE is seeking teams to design displays demonstrating scary environmental themes for our HALLOWGREEN gala on October 23. Themes include litter, invasive plants, air pollution, global warming, toxics (in the home and garden), water pollution, electronic waste, junk mail, packaging and disposables, and water bottles. The displays can incorporate whatever elements you like to represent the theme and can use a variety of media including sound, lights, and 3-D materials.
Here are the complete rules:
- The teams can be 1 person to 100 people with any age participants as long as the teams are able to arrange for transportation of the displays as described below.
- Space is limited and teams will be accepted on a rolling basis so apply early. We will assign a theme to each team so there is no duplication. Teams may indicate their top three choices of themes.
- The displays must fit in a 10-foot by 10-foot space and the procurement of all items in the display is the responsibility of the team. One table will be provided. The use of reused, reclaimed, and recycled items is encouraged. All displays must be transported to the gala at the Hilton Arlington between 5 and 6:30 p.m. on Thursday, October 23 and removed at 10 p.m.
- The displays will be judged on creativity, scariness, and the inclusion of both problems and solutions. All displays must include information on how the issue affects local residents. Cash
prizes will be awarded in the amounts of $400 (grand prize) and $50 (two runners up). We
will also have certificates of achievement for all student teams participating in the contest.
- Each team will receive one complimentary ticket to Hallowgreen and discounts for tickets for additional team members.
