POSITIONS


Energy Masters Coordinator

The Energy Masters program coordinator will work closely with staff at ACE and Virginia Cooperative Extension as well as volunteers and partners to coordinate key activities for execution of the Energy Masters program. The program coordinator will be hired as a contractor from July 2016 through June 2017 with the possibility of extension if funding becomes available. The position is part-time, averaging 50 hours a month.

You will…

  • Assist with the marketing and promotion of the training program.
  • Participate in the site visit and site selection for work days.
  • Interview potential volunteer candidates for the program and follow up with applicants about the outcome.
  • Organize and attend training sessions.
  • Maintain current inventory of all program supplies
  • Organize work day prep sessions held the week before a scheduled work day,
  • Coordinate work day logistics in advance of and on the work day including: working with resident services coordinator at housing partner to facilitate work day activities, scheduling units in which work will be completed, and creating work day teams based on volunteer availability.
  • Coordinate all work day activities and volunteer communications on work days.
  • Complete post work day tasks including updating master tally lists and drafting reports to be shared with housing partners and program partners.
  • Assist with the coordination, scheduling and execution of community outreach and education events.
  • Track work day and program statistics and assist with the preparation of program reports.

  • Solid leadership skills who enjoys working with diverse populations.
  • Strong attention to detail who thrives on logistical challenges.
  • The ability to juggle competing priorities and demands.
  • The ability to diplomatically address problems and issues using sound judgment.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Experience, strong interest, and/or skills in energy and water conservation and environmental education and outreach.
  • Experience supervising volunteers.

Bonus points for …

  • Spanish language skills.

 


Summer Outreach Internships

We are seeking two to three summer interns to assist with outreach to elementary students participating in summer camps during the afternoons from July  11 through August 12. The summer interns will deliver environmental education programs. Hours are flexible but intern must commit to a minimum of five hours per week. A small stipend is available to offset transportation costs.

  • Coordinate logistics for school presentations, communicating with summer camp contacts.
  • Deliver presentations to school and youth groups.
  • Summarize accomplishments for reports to funders.

  • Excellent public speaking skills.
  • Strong organizational abilities.
  • Experience working with kids.

  • Spanish language proficiency.
  • Background or interest in environmental issues.
