Outreach and Administrative Assistant

Arlingtonians for a Clean Environment (ACE) is seeking an outreach and administrative assistant, working 10 to 15 hours per week from January through June 2016.  This is a volunteer position but offers a small stipend to cover transportation costs and may be applicable toward college credit.

  • Coordinating logistics for school presentations, coordinating with outreach volunteers.
  • Delivering presentations to school and youth groups.
  • Assisting with coordination and implementation of outreach events.
  • Writing and distributing calendar announcements and other publicity materials.
  • Updating web site.
  • Posting content on Twitter and Facebook.
  • Other administrative duties as needed.

Web and Social Media Volunteer

The web and social media volunteer will contribute to the development and implementation of a social media strategy for ACE. Working closely with the program manager and ACE staff, the volunteer will provide critical support in managing a comprehensive digital strategy for our organization.

You will …

  • Assist with the implementation of new web site template and the migration of content.
  • Develop digital content including blog posts, press releases, and social media posts.
  • Help monitor, grow, and enhance ACE’s social media presence on Facebook, Twitter, Linkedin, Google+, YouTube and (soon) Pinterest
  • Assist with editorial calendar management
  • Audit and update key contacts and media lists
  • Assist with social media metrics reporting and analysis, etc
  • Create a web-based media library by organizing and tagging existing photos and video for use in digital marketing campaigns
  • Assist with the relaunch of website

We’re looking for someone with …

  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills
  • Experience writing for the web and online platforms
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.)

Program and Administrative Summer Intern

The summer intern will work as a program and administrative assistant 10 to 15 hours per week from mid-May through mid-August 2016.  This position is available for college credit or on a volunteer basis. There is a small stipend available.

 Senior Experience Project: School Outreach Positions

Arlingtonians for a Clean Environment (ACE) is seeking students interested in completing their high school senior experience project working for a community nonprofit with an internship focusing on environmental education. Students will deliver the Energy Carnival program, a classroom activity designed for elementary students with a focus on energy and our role in energy conservation in the home. This position offers a great opportunity to work with young students and engage them in a fun program while learning about energy and the importance of reducing our consumption in order to reduce greenhouse gases. In addition to doing outreach, students will work one to two days a week removing invasive species in our parks. Students will be working in a team with other high school students. There are a total of seven positions available.

You will …

  • Publicize program availability to teachers and extended day staff.
  • Confirm requests for presentations with all schools and finalize outreach calendar.
  • Prepare and organize supplies for presentations.
  • Assist with invasive species removal in local parks.
  • Deliver presentations to elementary audiences.
  • Compile evaluation results.
  • Document program accomplishments.

Internship Period: This position is 30 hours per week and lasts three weeks. There is flexibility in completing this project between May 18 and June 15, 2016.
